As many of you know, on Sunday February 24th at 3:00 pm, The Chattanooga Theatre Centre will stage a one time performance of “The Exonerated” as a joint fundraiser with the Unitarian Universalist Church of Chattanooga. Culled from interviews, letters, transcripts, case files and the public record, Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen’s deeply affecting play tells the true stories of six wrongfully convicted survivors of death row in their own words. Hard-hitting and socially relevant, the play moves between first-person monologues and scenes set in courtrooms and prisons, with the six interwoven stories painting a picture of an American criminal justice system gone horribly wrong—and of six brave souls who persevered to survive it. Several of our friends and members are even part of the cast! We hope you will plan to join us and invite your friends.

Want to snag brunch before the show?

Check out this Message from Linda Helton & Daidee Springer….

Please join us (and our spouses) for brunch on the North Shore this Sunday after church. We plan on a leisurely brunch at either Poblano’s or Bela Lisboa. Both restaurants have $1 mimosas on Sundays plus good food reasonably priced. More importantly, they are both within easy walking distance of the Chattanooga Theatre Centre. We assume you’re planning on attending the 3 pm performance of The Exonerated that’s a joint benefit for both UUCC and the Theatre Centre. Both of us have seen The Exonerated before, but we’re excited about having an opportunity to see it again. It’s a riveting 90 minutes Tickets are still available and you will be able to buy them at the door. If possible, we’d like to know in advance how many of you plan on brunch and which restaurant you prefer. That way we can make a reservation. If you are a somewhat typical UU and decide at the last minute, just catch us before or after church on Sunday and sign on then. The more the merrier!
