11:00 am ~ God and Cohen: An Exploration of Spiritual Themes
This service focuses on the importance and meaning of the lyrics of Leonard Cohen’s music. Can you hear Cohen’s Hallelujah? It is difficult to stop singing or humming the melody, isn’t it? John Standridge, a UUCC member, has enjoyed the music and reflected on the meaning of the words. His insights bring a new dimension of appreciation to Cohen’s work that will seek to discover the teleologic existentialism of truth, beauty, compassion, and love. Extinguishing the illusion of self, our spiritual quest should lead us to abandon knowledge and being, and seek the divine in a naked intent of love.
