Artist Don Hill

Landscape paintings by Don Hill are on exhibit in our alcoves during January and February. Hall states that his oil on canvas paintings are about feeling. “When I start a painting either in the studio or en plein air, I want the viewer to feel the moment that is on the canvas. I hope they feel the place and see themselves there.”

Don grew up in Sweetwater, Tennessee and now resides in East Ridge. Following high school, he attended Harris School of Art for two years. After two years in the Marines which included a tour of duty in Vietnam, he attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He has taught art at Chattanooga State. He was employed as a graphic artist for McKee Foods for 34 years, retiring in 2012. He has returned to his first love of art which is landscape painting.
