Needed: 23 good voices to read the transcript of the closing arguments for Perry v. Schwarzenegger. As video of the actual trial was banned, screenwriter Dustin Lance Black created the play ‘8’ so that both sides of the argument, for and against California’s 2008 ballot initiative Proposition 8 to restrict marriage to heterosexuals, could be understood.
Auditions for ‘8’ the Play take place Sunday 5 January at 2:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Chattanooga (UUCC). Rehearsals will be on Sundays at UUCC in January and February. No lines to memorize as the words are read from the transcript. Contact: 8play@uucc.org
