The exhibit “Wild Poppies” is a collection of paintings by Impressionist painter Sandra Babb.  Our walls have previously hosted both skyscapes and creature paintings by Babb, however this exhibit reflects her favorite subjects – landscape and figure.  When not teaching art at Dalton’s Creative Arts Guild, she can be found painting the landscape of North Georgia “en plein air.” She states “I keep easel, canvases, oil paints, brushes, mosquito spray, and a cooler in my car.  I like the wide open spaces and my studio is wherever I can find enough room to plant my feet. The resulting paintings give me a sense of place in an otherwise hectic lifestyle.”

Babb holds a BFA in Graphic Design from UTC.  She is a member of the Booth Artist Guild and the North Georgia Sky Painters.  She recently served as president of the Chattanooga Civic Arts League and is an associate member of the Portrait Society of America.

The painting “Impression Waterlilies” was inspired by her 2018 trip to Monet’s garden in Giverny, France.  Though art is a major part of her life, most important to her is time spent with family.
