Poetry as a Spiritual Practice
Led by Pam Johnson
|
Poetry has the capacity to surprise, to delight, to heal, and to help us be more awake and aware. We’ll explore how reading and memorizing poetry can help cultivate the spiritual practice of mindfulness and of course, hear a selection of poems.

Hi UUCC! It’s me, your Music Director!
I’m in the process of doing a census-for lack of a better word-of the people in this community who are involved in or want to be involved in the music. There has been a big turnover in choir members, there have been new groups organizing, and there have been wonderful musicians sharing their talents. I want to get a better feel for what is wanted, needed, and able to be done. To that end, I am facilitating a music meeting during the normal choir practice time. The meeting will begin at 9:30 AM, this Sunday, August 3, in the sanctuary.
This meeting is for people who -Are currently in the choir and want to stay in the choir -Are currently in the Third Sunday Band and want to stay in the band -Have sung with the Sacred Hearth Singing Circle and want to do so again -Aren’t involved in any music yet but definitely want to be -Do music at UUCC and want to do more
This meeting is NOT for people who -Have been involved with UUCC music and now have other priorities -People who have never been involved with UUCC music and want to stay uninvolved
If you are someone who has historically been involved and now you have other priorities, that is absolutely ok!
Looking forward to seeing who shows up! ;-)
P.S. Please forward this message on to anyone at UUCC who you think would benefit :-)

School starts next week, and you know what that means: teachers are about to spend their own money on stuff their students need. Let’s give them a hand.
|
We’re collecting school supplies for Calvin Donaldson, Orchard Knob Elementary, and East Side Elementary.
|
Gift cards: Amazon, Target, Visa cards. Teachers have told us gift cards let them buy exactly what students need so every kid gets the same supplies. Classroom staples (the boring stuff): Clorox wipes, Elmer’s glue sticks, copy paper, dry erase markers, tissues.
