You Don’t Have to Be Pure to Be Good

Speaker: Jeff Crim

What if being a good person doesn’t require moral perfection? What if justice work doesn’t demand spotless motives, flawless language, or a clean personal history?

Charlie Wilson's War: Film Viewing Feb. 1

The Social Justice Committee is hosting a viewing of Charlie Wilson's War after the service on Sunday, Feb. 1. Popcorn will be provided! Bring your Welcome Back Mandy lunch to enjoy the film!

Charlie Wilson's War is a 2007 American biographical comedy-drama film based on the story of U.S. Congressman Charlie Wilson and CIA operative Gust Avrakotos, whose efforts led to Operation Cyclone, a program to organize and support the Afghan mujahideen during the Soviet–Afghan War (1979–89).

Home. Home is more than just a place - it's a feeling. Home may be where you live, a memory, a culture or a person or activity that makes you feel welcome and loved. In this class, we will explore what "home" means to us and create a personal keepsake. The finished size is approximately 4"x6". Using fabric allows us to tell stories through texture, color and pattern. Each piece of fabric may represent some aspect of your "home."
  • Please bring fabric/paper scissors and pinking shears if you already have them and want to use them (no need to buy anything—we have plenty to share).
  • You’re welcome to bring personal embellishments like beads, charms, or stamps if you have them (optional—materials will be provided).
  • The event is fun, relaxing, and low-pressure.
  • No prior skills needed—no sewing, art, writing, or drawing experience required.
**PRIOR REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.**
CLICK HERE to sign up, find payment links, and/or request a scholarship. Space is limited to 20 participants.
*Please note the meeting on February 8 will take place in the forum room

MÉLANGE IN BLUE

An Art on the Walls Exhibit beginning
January 11, 2026

Webster defines mélange as “a mixture, often of incongruous elements.” Moving from alcove to alcove, the viewer encounters prints, original paintings, photography, and fiber art. The mix is abstract, representational, and in-between: the only commonality being the color blue.

Original art is presented by Qimmah Zayn, Carol Hobbs and Emily Compton. The photograph titled Blue Reflections is by Richard Dubé. Prints include shibori-patterned lokta paper and the art of Franz Marc. Most works are available for purchase with a percentage of the price donated to UUCC.

The above is a detail from the painting Untitled Dreams by Qimmah Zayn.

Church Office Drop Offs???

The church office continues to be a place for well-meaning folks to leave things they think someone can use. Please do NOT do this without first a) making sure the church can use it, and b) labeling it with your name and where it is suppose to go. If you don't already have a place for it to be, please don't just bring it and drop it, resulting in someone else having to take it somewhere to be donated.

CURRENTLY there is a microwave in the office. Does this have a location for use, or a designated place/person it needs to go to? If not, it will be donated elsewhere.

Thank you so much for caring for UUCC and our people....and helping us keep a bit of order in the office. :).

YOU ARE INVITED!
