Through the music of the 1960s, we'll explore timeless themes of belonging, connection, perspective, and hope. Featuring beloved songs that continue to speak across generations, this service invites us to reflect on what endures—and what still calls us forward.
Please note: Because this is a music-centered service, announcements will be shared at the beginning of the program. To be included, announcements should be submitted by Saturday at 2 pm to Jen (jhorning1981@gmail.com) or Leila Rose (music@uucc.org).

Searching For Social Justice Tour Meeting - June 7 at 12:30
Come learn more about UUCC’s Searching for Social Justice Tour. Join us as we visit the The Legacy Museum sites in Montgomery, AL (includes National Memorial for Peace and Justice, Freedom Monument for Sculpture Park) and Montgomery Square, and walk the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma.
We’re going October 16-17, 2026. We have a small bus reserved with a maximum of 28 seats. About 20 people signed the interest form. It’s now time to make a commitment.
First ones to commit, get a seat! Once seats are full, we’ll take names for a waiting list. If you're interested in being on the bus (whether you signed the interest form or not), please come to our meeting after the service on Sunday, June 7! We'll update you on the accommodations, sample (though not finalized) itinerary, costs and deadline for payment and some sample reading materials you can consider perusing to help you get more from our trip.

Honor Wall Memorial: Why It is Needed
Sixteen to eighteen million American military records for those serving in the Army and Air Force, between November 1912 and January 1964 , were destroyed in a fire in the St. Louis archives, on July 12, 1973. Navy, Marine and Cost Records were not stored in St. Louis and are intact.
This means that if you possess any documentation , proof, that your relative served in the Army or Air Force , you may have the only proof. There is no official military personnel file (OMPF) for millions of American veterans. Eighty percent of the Army records and seventy-five percent of the Air Force records were destroyed.
Fold3.com has created a free Memorial on the Honor Wall for veterans’ families. All veterans who served in any capacity during this period are included in this attempt to preserve a record of their service. Ancestry.com took over Fold3 in 2010 and you can access it through Ancestry.com. Don’t have an account? This is what you do.
1. Use the resources available through the Chattanooga library. You can get free access , at any library branch, to Ancestrylibrary.com, regardless of whether you have a library card or not.
2. Look for you relative. You may be lucky and find that their records were in the 20% that survived the fire or find that someone else has already created a record.
3. No record? Look for photos in uniform or discharge papers , letters, diaries, whatever you have.
4. Request the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) to assist in reconstructing a file by searching alternate sources such as hospitalization records or VA claim files, etc. Archives.gov is site to request this assistance. NPRC is still located in St. Louis, by the way.
5. Use the Reference Librarians in the Chattanooga library system for assistance. I plan to. You can get 3 hours of free parking in the downtown EPB garage, by the way.
