Kitchen Clocks and Cosmic Grace
Speakers: Rev. Mandy and Steve Hollingsworth
Not every task—and not every person—runs on the same timer. From the midnight oil burners to the slow starters, procrastination isn't always laziness; sometimes, it’s just part of the process. In a world that praises hustle, how do we make space for the kind of grace that allows things (and people) to unfold in their own time?
This multigenerational service celebrates the truth that everyone brings something essential to the mix. We are each an ingredient in the great recipe of community—cooking at different speeds, offering different flavors, and together creating something nourishing and whole. With laughter, reflection, and a generous scoop of patience, we’ll explore what it means to be in the kitchen together.

BYO food to Walker Pavilion (right by the fountains). We’ll have drinks, activities, and live music. Kids are welcome! We'll talk as a community about how to leverage our growing numbers to make positive change; build government that truly works for us; and fight back against antidemocratic forces at the local level.
If you plan to come, please RSVP to democracyinaction423@gmail.com. The event is free, but indoor seating is limited. You can also email Democracy in Action to get on their mailing list, so you’ll always know about upcoming events.
If you wish, but not required, bring an item for the Chattanooga Area Food Bank or for Calvin Donaldson Elementary, a school that serves many students in need. See suggestions below.
Food Bank: shelf-stable items, especially canned meat, pasta, tomato sauce, peanut butter, mac & cheese
Calvin Donaldson: tennis shoes, socks, underwear, backpacks, Crayola crayons, colored pencils, markers, scissors, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, tissues, paper towels, gallon Ziploc bags, wide-rule paper, highlighters, Expo markers & erasers, glue, any basic school supplies

The Art on the Walls Program presents the June & July exhibit
Black In Bloom:
A Showcase in Black Thriving
This exhibit presents the art of two talented local artists: S.Ja FineArt (Sharketa Penn) and Nola x Trinity (Andrea Sanders). Their creations proclaim Black creativity and beauty.
When asked for an artist statement, Sharketa submitted this: “My art is a reflection of the soul—where realism meets imagination, and emotion lives in the eyes. Each portrait I create is a journey through memory, healing, and self-discovery. I believe art is not just something we make, but something that makes us whole.”— S.Ja FineArt
Both artists are members of The MFA (Music+ Fashion+ Art) Foundation. S.Ja FineArt creates using the digital painting app Procreate. Nola X Trinity presents prints of her works on canvas. Much thanks to Karla Scaife for inviting these gifted artists to exhibit at UUCC.
The art will remain in the church’s gallery through July 27. To purchase the art or additional prints, refer to the wall label. The artists will donate 30% of proceeds to the MFA Foundation.
