Join us this Sunday to explore the idea of a hero through storytelling and small group discussions. What makes a hero? What does their journey look like? Feel free to dress in costumes or bring some fandom flair from Middle Earth or a galaxy far, far away. Or, come as the hero you already are!

Stewardship Update for April 30, 2026 Many, many thanks to those of you who pledged your time, talent and treasure to UUCC for our upcoming fiscal year! Thus far, 62 people/families dug deep into their pockets and pledged their financial support for 2026-27. Our monetary pledges total $137,151. In addition, 43 people pledged their willingness to help out with dozens of tasks and activities. You have all showed great generosity, and I thank each of you! While the Stewardship campaign for the 2026-27 fiscal year has technically ended, please do not take that to mean our need has ended. Last year 8 people pledged after the official campaign had ended, which was enormously helpful, and I encourage you to do the same if you are able. Much appreciation goes to those who helped with the campaign this year, including Nicki, Jen, Judy, Arlan, Whitney, Mandy, Cass, Charlotte, Tim, John, the UUCC BoT, and others. On behalf of the entire UUCC community, please accept my sincere thanks! Gary Beale - Stewardship Campaign Chair.

Nominate a Local Group for Donate the Plate, 2026-27 Year
UUCC has a long history of supporting other local groups doing good in our community. Donate the Plate happens the third Sunday of each month. The entire offertory collected goes to a specified local organization to help sustain their mission. We seek ideas from the members of our congregation for worthy not-for-profits in Hamilton County. Once the nominations are gathered, the Social Justice Committee will make the final selections and create the Donate the Plate calendar for the fiscal year, July 2026-June 2027.
|
Look for the nomination sheet in the fellowship area starting April 5. You can also send your nomination to judygallagher@uucc.org. Organizations must have a physical place a check can be mailed to; and be a local group, not a national organization. Please provide an address or website and/or phone number. Deadline for submissions is April 30. Questions? Seek out Judy!

Searching for Justice Trip Update
We're going to Montgomery and Selma, Alabama on October 16-17 to visit the civil rights history trail items there.
We have a small bus reserved with a maximum of 28 seats. About 20 people signed the interest form. They will have first dibs!
|
If you're interested in being on the bus (whether you signed the interest form or not), please come to our meeting after the service on Sunday, June 7! We'll update you on the accommodations, sample (though not finalized) itinerary, costs and deadlines for deposit and balance; and some sample reading materials you can consider perusing to help you get more from our trip.

Social Justice Article
• LET’S TALK ABOUT PRIVILIDGE AS PATHOLOGY…
|
Living systems—cells, ecosystems, and societies—persist through flows of energy, materials, and information regulated by feedback. Their long-term viability depends on feedback loops that distribute resources according to functional contribution and ensure that decision-making authority remains coupled to responsibility and consequence. No being stands outside the systems that sustain it. Every action contributes to the organization of the whole—either reinforcing life-serving patterns or accelerating depletion and breakdown.
|
From this perspective, the privileges enjoyed by the royalty and the obscenely rich in human societies represent not merely ethical concern. It is a signal of serious systemic malfunction. Pathology emerges when a subsystem of one or more individuals gains disproportionate access to resources or control while becoming insulated from the negative consequences of its actions. Such insulation suppresses corrective feedback, impairs learning, and often leads to cascading failure. The crisis to which humanity’s Imperial Era has led is a direct consequence of systemic privilege enjoyed by the few. Genuine FREEDOM does not arise from exemption from consequence. It arises from participation in systems in which all participants work together to meet their individual needs while honoring ecological limits. In mature participatory systems, privilege does not need to be redistributed. IT NEEDS TO BE ELIMINATED!!!!!!!!!
|
We may well ask ourselves, “why do human societies repeatedly organize themselves in ways that violate the operating logic of living systems?”
|
○ Badly flawed stories that have served a few of us well until fairly recently. ○ Other ideas?????? ○ Hope lies in an emerging synthesis of old and new stories which we will be exploring….
