Honoring the Harvesters

Speakers: Jen Horning and Jen Roberts from Sacred Hearth Circle

Our food does not move straight from farm to table. It passes through many caring, unseen hands — those who plant, harvest, package, ship, prepare, and serve. This service lifts up and honors all who make our nourishment possible.

Together, we’ll reflect on our partnership with the resources available to us and imagine what a true harvest table looks like in 2025. As part of our shared ritual, please bring a food item you regularly rely on for nourishment — anything goes: nonperishable, packaged, or supplemental — to help us build our community harvest table.

Let’s Talk About RE!

UUCC is searching for a new Religious Education Coordinator. A search committee has been appointed composed of Jan Brookes, Gary Beale, and Brianne Brucker Derveloy. Our committee has engaged with an RE consultant from the UUA, and met with UUCC's RE committee, and we are working through the steps required to hire a new "CRE". A search like this typically takes around 3 months, so our target is to hire a new RE Coordinator by the end of this year.

In order to solicit the congregation's input on what UUCC's families want and need from RE, we are planning an event called "Let’s Talk About RE". It will feature Reverend Nancy Combs-Morgan, who is the UUA Southeast Region's expert on all things UU RE. The event will take place Wednesday evening, 10/15 at 6:00 PM in UUCC's social hall. Children are welcome contributors to this conversation, and child care will be provided as well. Pizza will be served, including gluten free and vegan options. Dessert will be "potluck". This is a congregation-wide conversation, so please come and offer your thoughts and hear the latest update on our RE Coordinator search.

Questions? Please email DRE@uucc.org.

Please come enjoy some pizza with other UU families, and tell us about your hopes for RE in 2026!

This event is FREE!

Oct/Nov Art on the Walls:
Threads of Fall
An exhibit by UUCC members and friends

Art on the Walls presents “Threads of Fall,” an exhibit of 6 fiber art works by UUCC members and friends. The exhibit opens Sunday October 5 and continues through November. The artists have interpreted this season’s burst of orange, yellow, and red using fabric and yarn.
Fiber artists Emily Compton, Cindy Collins, Jen Horning, Beau Miller-Palmer, Carol Hobbs, and Jody Borochoff evoke the beauty of fall with stitched, woven, or knitted creations.

The exhibit is rounded out with a large collaged canvas of leaves and pumpkins created by the RE class of 5 to 10 year olds. Photographs from members’ collections add additional color to the exhibit.

Some fiber art is for sale with a percentage of proceeds donated to UUCC. Pictured above is a collage of RE art.

All ages, all skill levels, all fun! Join us for a relaxed night of bowling, laughter, and community. Bring the whole family or come with a friend—everyone is welcome!
