Holding Up The Light

It’s the worst that it’s been since the last time it happened

It’s happening again right in front of our eyes

There’s updated footage, wild speculation

Tall tales and hearsay and absolute lies. -Long Violent History, Tyler Childers

Where is the best place to start? The history we have been taught is a problem. People are erased or romanticized, events are filtered through media and gossip. People who know the real story are frustrated and taken out of context. This happens globally as well as in our own family’s. This fuels the fires of injustice that disregards the environment and its inhabitants as disposable resources. Context and our stories are the light we can shine on history. How do ignite our curiosity when some of what we might find will break our hearts? Or change our understanding? Or hold us accountable for our privilege? Or it might just create an opportunity for collective liberation to unfold.
